Walker Hayes is adding a festive touch to the season with a revamped rendition of his chart-topping hit, “Fancy Like.” The holiday-inspired version, titled “Fancy Like Christmas,” introduces the cheerful jingle of bells to the catchy melody. In this festive adaptation, Hayes weaves in references to mistletoe, Mariah Carey’s timeless “All I Want For Christmas,” and Starbucks’ peppermint mocha latte.
In the revamped chorus, Hayes joyfully declares: “Go Jesus, it’s your birthday / Bougie like blowups in the front yard / Hopin’ Santa gonna leave an Applebee’s gift card / In my stocking even though we gettin’ naughty all night hey / That’s how we do, how we do / Fancy like Christmas.”
Notably, Hayes playfully nods to Applebee’s, the favored date spot of him and his wife Laney during high school, a reference carried over from the original “Fancy Like.” The mention of “blowups in the front yard” pays homage to the singer’s use of earnings from the hit song to purchase Christmas-themed inflatables for his children, which they proudly showcase in their yard during the holiday season.
