Tracy Lawrence 15th annual Mission: Possible Turkey Fry

Country music artist Tracy Lawrence and other volunteers took over the parking lot at the Nashville Rescue Mission Tuesday for the 15th annual Mission: Possible Turkey Fry. Armed with propane, oil and pots, work was occasionally interrupted with shouts of “hot bird” as the poultry moved from hot oil to a table where the turkey was then processed.

They hoped to fry an impressive 500 turkeys to feed approximately 6,000 people at the Nashville Rescue Mission this Thanksgiving.

“It started off with just a handful of friends and some borrowed propane tanks and here we are 15 years later, and it’s just become what I think is a wonderful part of the Nashville culture downtown. I’m glad that we are allowed to do this this year in spite of all the COVID issues,” Lawrence said.
