Nashville Female Producer Makes History with Country Music Single

Alex Kline, one of Nashville’s prominent producers, songwriters, and multi-instrumentalists, makes history this week as the first solo female producer to have a Top 15 Country Radio hit by a female artist. The single Somebody Like That, was co-written with CCMA award-winner Tenille Arts for her critically acclaimed album, Love, Heartbreak & Everything in Between.
A streaming phenomenon, “Somebody Like That” has reached 65 million streams, further establishing Kline as a game-changing producer and songwriter that is shaping the future of country music. The single debuted at No. 2 of the iTunes Country chart and No. 10 on the iTunes all-genre chart. It spent three-weeks at No. 1 at Radio Disney Country; went No. 1 on Billboard’s all-genre Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart and just debuted at
No. 97 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. On Spotify, the song peaked at No. 11 on the United States Viral 50 chart as well.
Tenille Arts, recently named to CMT’s 2021 Next Women of Country, says this about working with Kline, who produced six songs on her album and played several instruments on it as well.
“I have absolutely loved working with Alex,” said Arts. “Her vision for my music is exactly what I’ve always wanted. She works harder and more hours than any producer I’ve ever met, and she’s a perfectionist in the best way.”
A triple threat, Kline has built her career based on her musical intuition and versatility. She brings out the authentic best in any artist who collaborates with her, whether they are a veteran act or a promising newcomer on the rise.
Her production credits include collections by Terri Clark, Tara Thompson, Adam Brand, Erin Enderlin,John King, Logan Murrell, Jordan Rager,
Maggie Rose and Jillian Cardarelli among others.
Kline’s 2021 projects in development include writing and producing the follow-up to Tenille Arts’ Love, Heartbreak & Everything in Between album and producing Stephanie Quayle’s forthcoming album featuring her latest single, “By Heart.”
Kline’s extensive success as a songwriter includes Ronnie Dunn (“Damn Drunk”), Reba McEntire (“The Bar Is Getting Lower”), Mitchell Tenpenny (“I Get the Picture”), Terri Clark (Raising the Bar), Gary Allan (“Slide”), Bill Anderson, Meghan Patrick (“Praying Right”), Cassadee Pope (Rise and Shine), Jordan Rager (Habits and Hearts), Mason Ramsey (“On My Way”), Tara Thompson (Someone to Take Your Place) and countless others have recorded her songs.
“I like the balance I’ve found between writing, playing, and producing,” said Kline. “There’s a unique synergy in combining multiple creative approaches and how each inspires the other. One of the most exciting things to me right now is finding an artist I love and tapping into what makes them unique and helping to make that shine, whether it be one of my own musical influences like Terri Clark or a new up and coming star like Tenille Arts.”
