Listen: Eric Church addresses social issues in new single, ‘Stick That in Your Country Song’

Eric Church never went anywhere – well, except quarantine like the rest of us – but he is back with a new single that pushes all boundaries. Forget the songs about beer, your dog, or the love that got away. Eric Church has bigger topics to tackle in his music.

“Stick That in Your Country Song” addresses a variety of timely issues including diversity, violence and, poverty, to name a few. The new single, which dropped on Wednesday, is only a preview on what’s to come on his new, yet-to-be named album. But from the sounds of it, the Chief has a lot to get off his chest.

Although fans have yet to hear the powerful lyrics of “she’s underpaid, she’s overworked” about a teacher or “he lost a friend, his sight, his hands” about a veteran, Church is slated to perform at CMA’s Stay-Cay virtual event, where he just might give the world the first performance of this can’t miss ballad.

Take a listen.
