If you’re a country music fan in Northern California, you’ve heard of or have been to The Saddle Rack. For nearly 44 years, the iconic country music bar and club has been a staple in the Bay Area, welcoming in country music lovers from all places and of all ages (21+, of course).
The iconic venue located in Fremont, California announced that their temporary closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic is now permanent; and they will not be reopening their doors once the state’s Shelter-In-Place order is lifted. The Saddle Rack team took to their website and social media pages on Friday to thank it’s patrons for their business over the years.
The East Bay-based bar is known for its mechanical bull, barber shot chair, and one of the few line dancing venues north of San Luis Obispo, California. It has also hosted a variety of country music acts over the years, including country music greats like Garth Brooks, Merle Haggard and Alan Jackson. Complete with two dance floors and a mixture of a live band and DJ, there was a little something for everyone to enjoy on Friday and Saturday nights in the bay.
It’s sad time for line dancers, two-steppers, and saddlerackers in and around the Bay Area; now having no country music safe haven to come back to once the world returns to “normal.” It’s regulars are now left to find a new place to show off their moves and celebrate once quarantine comes to an end.
On behalf of Stars and Guitars, we’re deeply saddened to see this one go.
There is truly no place like The Saddle Rack.
