Dan + Shay are dispelling the notion that they’re solely confined to the realm of romantic ballads with their exuberant latest track, “We Should Get Married.”
The song, co-written by Dan Smyers, Shay Mooney, and Andy Albert, commences with a seemingly unhurried pace as the protagonist strategizes his next amorous maneuver.
Mooney croons, “Yeah, I know that we just met / So pardon my drunk confidence / And I know you don’t know me yet / But my heart skipped ten steps ahead,” all set against the backdrop of deceptively languid piano notes.
Any anticipation for a conventional wedding-themed ballad is rapidly shattered as the buoyant chorus enters the scene akin to a burst of confetti.
