It has been an eventful week for the upcoming 2021 CMT Music Awards. On Wednesday it was announced that Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini would be co-hosting this year’s festivities. Brown co-hosted the show last year alongside Ashley McBryde and Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland. It will be Ballerini’s first time co-hosting this particular show, but she is no stranger to hosting duties. She has experience co-hosting the CMC Awards (The Australian CMT Awards) in 2016 with husband and fellow country singer Morgan Evans, the short-lived reality show Greatest Hits with Arsenio Hall, and a three-year stint hosting the CMA Music Festival with Thomas Rhett.
On Thursday, the nominees for the CMT Music Awards were unveiled. Women lead the pack again, as Miranda Lambert and Maren Morris tied for the most nominations with four apiece. There were more first-time nominees than ever before with 13, including rising stars Mickey Guyton, HARDY and Lainey Wilson. The Video of the Year category starts off with a massive list of 14 nominees, with fans voting to narrow down the competition until three finalists remain heading into the broadcast. The 2021 CMT Music Awards will air at 8 p.m. EST on June 9th on CMT, MTV, MTV2, Paramount Network, TV Land and Logo. You can check out the full list of nominees below and you can cast your vote for the winners here.
