June is still two months away, but the country music world is being cautious. What’s next on the long list of events rescheduled? The Country Music Television (CMT) Awards, originally scheduled for June 3. The fan-voted awards show will now take place on October 14.
CMT released a statement on Friday, April 3 saying, “Our top priority this last month has been rebuilding our hometown of Nashville following the tornado and ensuring the safety of our fans, employees, artists and partners during the COVID-19 crisis. As we look forward to celebrating country music’s biggest stars together with our community and viewers, we will continue to follow the guidance of the CDC and local public health officials.”
We guess it’s better to be safe than sorry, right?
The annual awards show will now air one month after the ACM Awards, and one month before the CMA Awards. Looks like our favorite country music artists will have a very, very busy fall; with three awards shows in three months, and a plethora of rescheduled tour dates and festivals.
