I’ll admit, I had only flickering courage when I began to listen to the newest release from Oregon Native, AJ Kross. While “Dirt Poor Rich” is an immediate mind twister, the cover art pays homage to Kross’ early roots. He began to play music at the early age of just 3 years old. I was pleasantly surprised however, with a voice reminiscent of Justin Moore and guitar licks that Luke Bryan would be envious of. “Dirt Poor Rich” tells the classic story of children who grew up “dirt poor” but were “rich” with their experiences and memories, making the best out of very little. I was most impressed with Kross’ ability to execute a crisp vocal range in not only the choruses but the verses of the single as well. For me, it’s a vocal tone that truly pleases the ear – the entire song. I’d definitely place Kross on a “ones to watch list” as I believe he’s likely just bubbling under the surface of his future career.To stream the song click here.
