Kane Brown can now add the title “record executive” to his resume. On Wednesday, it was announced that Brown has launched 1021 Entertainment, which is an imprint on Sony Music Nashville. “I want to give people chances to succeed. With 1021 Entertainment, I feel like we have a platform and team that can mentor and build up talent in country music,” Brown said.
Sony Music Nashville’s A&R Director Margaret Tomlin said that it has been “rewarding to collaborate on this project with Kane and watch him mentor and advise as a label partner in ways only a superstar artist can.”
The label’s first signing is new country trio Restless Road, who released their debut single on their new label this week titled ‘Took One Look At Her Momma’. Restless Road was set to join Brown on his Worldwide Beautiful Tour in 2020 before Covid-19 pushed those dates back to late 2021. But Brown and Restless Road go back even further, as they all competed on the same season of X Factor US in 2013. Restless Road placed fourth in that competition, while Brown removed himself from the contest after finding out that the judges wanted to place him in a group instead of remaining a solo act.
