In a much needed message for the times, Maren Morris releases “Better Than We Found It”. She addresses some hot button issues in today’s society, dealing with Black Lives Matter and The Dream Act. In a time where a lot of people voice their support about the issues and lack of opportunities for minorities in today’s society, unlike some she took action. There’s a lack of diversity in Nashville when it comes to productions, video and photo shoots. Proving that she’s willing to do more than just talk about it, Maren enlisted several minorities for this production. Even down to the verbiage in the press release, she’s taking a stand!
The video, directed by Gabrelle Woodland, features members of Maren’s Nashville community—a young man impacted by the Trump administration’s politicization of immigration and attacks on the DREAM Act; the family of Daniel Hambrick, who was murdered by Nashville police in 2018; and young organizers of a protest supporting Black Lives Matter—and ends with a letter Maren wrote to her infant son, Hayes.
