Lauren Alaina released her new EP Getting Good on Friday. As a follow up to her 2017 full-length album Road Less Travelled, the former American Idol runner-up does what many artists neglect to do, which is diversify the subjects of her songs. From reminiscing on good times to bashing an ex and mourning the loss of a loved one, no two songs are the same. This EP is both incredibly satisfying, but also leaves the listener hungry for when her next full-length project comes. It’s disappointing that recent singles like “Ladies in the 90s” and “Getting Good,” both on this EP, haven’t reached the success of “Road Less Travelled” or her duet with Kane Brown “What Ifs,” but hopefully this package will garner more attention for those under-appreciated gems. There are no “standout” songs, because every single one should be streamed multiple times. To see if you agree, listen to it here.
