Ashley McBryde releases cheating power-anthem, “Martha Divine”

Ashley McBryde releases cheating power-anthem, “Martha Divine”

Everybody loves a good, country cheatin’ song.
Dolly Parton gave us “Jolene,” Carrie Underwood gave us “Before He Cheats,” and now Ashley McBryde has given us “Martha Divine.”

McBryde released her debut album in 2018, took home the CMA Award for New Artist of the Year in 2019, and now she’s starting off 2020 with a revenge-fueled power anthem as the second single to her much-anticipated second album. But unlike other cheating anthems, this one comes with a twist – and a hell of a video to go with it. Instead of being involved in a scorned love affair herself, “Martha Divine” is a revenge-anthem with sights set on her father’s mistress instead. With a catchy chorus and vengeance-filled lyrics like, “Honor thy father, honor thy mother, but The Bible doesn’t say a damn thing about your daddy’s lover” and “Evidently the devil’s busy, so I moved you up in line,” you can’t help but sing along.
